Fall season is not complete until you have the warm tones of red, brown and maroon in your makeup. 🍂
I love wearing dark earthy lipstick shades as it really pops out your whole look especially, if you want to keep everything else very subtle. 🍂 My top lip choices this winter season will be mac matte lipstick in shade Diva – the perfect maroon you can ever have in your life, and Smashbox all day liquid lipstick in Rouge. I am one of those weird people who don’t feel comfortable wearing brown lip colors but this lipstick is such a perfect shade of brown with red undertones that this one color, I am willing to wear every single day, if need be. 🍂
Last night, as I was going through some old pictures of mine, I came across this one right here. I had freshly colored my hair purple and they looked so glossy, so healthy, and so luscious.. Fast forward to now. I’m going through the worst hair fall phase of my life. Those of you who don’t know, I had my second baby boy born 4 months ago and as soon as he turned 2.5 months, I started noticing that my hair are falling more than the usual amount.
Four weeks later, I was losing hair in bunches. The worst experience was a few days ago when I stepped into the shower and came out with clumps of hair in my hand. They would just keep coming off and it felt like I may have mistakenly shampooed my hair with some hair removing cream. As of today, hair fall is still going strong. I have official bald patches at the temples of my head. The total volume has probably gone down 60% and I am in a situation that wherever I go, I leave a trail of my hair behind me.
Ladies, what I am experiencing is a perfect example of postpartum hair loss. There is a ton of information on the web about what postpartum hair loss is and why it happens so I am not going to go in that area. What I do want to talk about is how you can deal with this crazy hair loss phase. This is my second time going through postpartum hair loss so I am not losing my mind or my sleep because I know it is just a phase that will pass I will regrow my hair and I won’t be bald for the rest of my life. Now, don’t get me wrong. I didn’t know all this the first time. I did go in to a bad depression, did some crazy things to my hair trying to overcome my complexes and made things even worse.
The good thing is I learnt a lot from my first postpartum hair loss experience and this time around when it happened, I was ready for it and I knew how to handle it. I am going to share a few of my tips and proven methods to deal with this temporary horror phase of your life. Trust me on this, you follow these tips, you’ll save yourself a lot of trouble, any kind of permanent damage and a peace of mind that all will get better in another 3-4 months time.
- Avoid using styling products, hair dryers, hot irons, curling irons, I mean all kinds of irons, please. Your already weak scalp does not need additional heat damage during this time.
- If you color your hair on regular basis or are now having the temptation to go for balayage, wait another three months and then go for it.
- Get yourself a haircut, preferably a shorter cut. Long hair tend to look more thin and flat during the hair fall phase. Since you will be growing a lot of new hair, short haircut will make your hair look thicker sooner.
- Oil your hair at least once a week and keep them tied up. Be careful not to tie your hair too tight, that can weaken your hair further.
- Gently brush your hair before you step into the shower. This way all your weak hair will come off in the brush and will not make you cry during your shower. Also, no clogging your bathtub.
- Focus on your diet, eat healthy and if you feel like it, go for multi-vitamins as well.
If you are even slightly interested in beauty and strive to show off a healthy skin every single day then you know what I am talking about. Everyone and their mother in the beauty world is using this ‘no less than holy water’ to remove their makeup and moisturize their skin. Intrigued like many others, I decided to read up on micellar water and why so many people are now preferring to use it over soap and other cleansing products to remove their makeup and keep their skin healthy.
Micellar water is basically made of ‘micelles’ (tiny cleansing oil molecules) suspended in soft water. The idea is that micelles attract dirt and oil particles so they are able to draw out all impurities without drying out your skin. For this very reason, people are now using micellar water as a facial wash, makeup remover and even asa moisturizer, all packed in one magical bottle. Another great thing about micellar water cleansing is that you do not need to rinse your face afterwards which is perfect for travelling or those crazy party nights when you have zero energy or motivation to wash off all makeup from your face.
How you use it is simple. Soak a cotton ball in micellar water and then remove all makeup and dirt from your face with gentle thorough swipes. Micellar water does not contain contain alcohol so it is perfect for sensitive skin and it never stings. Results are a bit tricky with oily skin as it is unable to give you the squeaky clean feel but compliment it with a traditional facial cleanser and you’ll be golden.
After reading up enough on micellar water, I decided to give it a try and I got really lucky when I received a sample micellar cleansing water from Sephora. Oh lord, this product is heaven sent. I was not only able to remove all of my makeup but my skin felt so smooth and moisturized afterwards. I loved it and have officially and shamelessly joined the micellar water cult.
If you want to get your hands on micellar water then you really only have to go to your nearest grocery or drugstore. Almost every skincare brand, medicated, luxe or commercial has launched their own range micellar cleansing water. Try one and let me know how you compare traditional cleansing and makeup removal against micellar water.
Last month, I finally decided to give +GlamBox Middle East a shot and get their monthly subscription as it would help me review some of the latest beauty and skincare products from a variety of brands every month. I love to try new products and this is one of the best ways to get your hands on high quality curated products for trials and reviews.
I have to say I was anxiously waiting for the day I receive my very first Glambox and guess what, the beautiful pink box arrived today. Yaayeee! I was so excited that I didn’t even waste a minute to open up the box, admire the beautiful packaging and dive straight into the products handpicked for August beauty box.
On first look, I saw some products that I have already used before but then there are some that I have no clue about so I’m looking forward to trying them in the days to come. There are a total of seven beauty products in the August’s Glambox. In no particular order, these are:
- Missha – M Perfect Cover BB Cream SPF 42/PA+++
- Alterna – Caviar Repairx Instant Recovery Shampoo
- Arcancil – Starliner Ultra Long Lasting Eyeliner Pencil Waterproof
- Rituals – Happy Buddha Mini Shower Foam
- Himalaya – Purifying Neem Face Wash
- Nivea – Powder Touch Spray
- Glambox – Silicone Makeup Sponge
The packaging was really cute and on point. I just loved the combination of polka dots and the tropical flowers and toucans. Simply beautiful!
All in all, I can’t wait to receive a cute little Glambox every month full of amazing beauty products that I can try and then recommend to my family, friends and followers.
This second crazy bold blue hue is just “oh, my frickin’ lord!” kind of sexy. I am super tempted to try it on and see how one can pull this shade off in an ordinary setting with no extra lighting and no extraordinary environment.
It is an absolutely mediocre story about how I came across this little piece of miracle but since it is one of the best skin care products I have used in my life time, I want to share the story anyways. A friend of mine, knowing my love for beauty care products gave me a gift set of the Rice Water Bright Collection from The Face Shop last year.
Honestly, before receiving the gift set from her, I had never heard of this brand and hence, had no experience whatsoever with its product line. Luckily, around the time I received this present, I was literally squeezing the last drops out of my Neutrogena face-wash. I decided to open the gift pack and give the Rice Water Bright Cleansing Foam Mousse a shot.
I have to say my very first experience with this product was so amazing that I haven’t been able to part myself with it as yet. The cleansing foam has a rich, creamy texture and you only need less than a pea-sized squeeze to lather your entire face and neck. It lathers really well and you can even keep it on your skin for a minute or so in the shower as a mask before washing it off.
The results are brilliant. You see an instant glow, a brightness on your face. It is not harsh on your skin. I can vouch for it since I have super sensitive combination skin and it gets irritated very quickly. With regular use of now over a year, my complexion has improved a lot. I love it most because of the fact that one tube can last you a long time. Mine is still going and the year is almost ending.
Although, my dear husband, seeing my love for this product just recently got me another gift set from The Face Shop that contains the same face wash. Poor guy noticed me using it so meagerly these days that he went ahead and bought more for me. Secretly, I know even he loves using it every now and then. 🙂
If any of you beautiful women are looking to try a new face-wash, I highly recommend giving The Rice Water Bright face-wash a shot. I promise, you won’t regret!
